Women in Business
Women have always played an important role in enterprise in the UK, but often within ‘invisible’ support roles. Less than 12 per cent of UK businesses are wholly owned by women, compared with 44 per cent owned by men and, despite considerable social and cultural change in the UK, the proportion of women starting and running their own businesses still lags behind much of the rest of the world, including the USA, Canada, Australia, Norway and most of the Far East and South America. Ferry Inn Saved!
A quick follow up to the article on the Ferry Inn in Brough.
It has been well documented how the owners, Marston’s PLC, had plans to sell the historical former home of Dick Turpin, and turn the pub into accommodation. However we have learned that this may not be the case any longer. Read more

Kirk Ella
Kirk Ella is located around five miles west of Kingston upon Hull. Together with West Ella it forms the civil parish of Kirk Ella and West Ella. The traditional centre of the village is the area around St Andrew's Church, which is a Grade I listed building.
